“We do hair,” says Mellie, a master stylist who honed her craft over nearly two decades in Boston-area shops, including 10 years at Wellesley’s Grettacole. “We’re not in the retail business. We don’t do broad-based beauty. There’s no spa, no wall of products. We specialize in hair, we are hair warriors.”
Mellie, who believes people are moving back to specialties, shuns the one-stop shop solution in favor of a small, unintimidating neighborhood place that knows hair and, just as important, knows its clients. “It’s about personalized haircutting and knowing what works for you,” she says.
